Strawberry Pizza with Candied Basil
Okay, so it’s not really a pizza, but it’s delicious. Marie had wanted to make a strawberry pizza and we threw around some ideas. Part of me wanted to make a strawberry sauce but then what do you put on top that’s raw, vegan and appetizing looking. Because to take a quote from one of the very quotable kids here: “why is everything so beige?”. He’s not wrong. One of our goals on this site is to make things that entice you. Food that you want to eat. To encourage people to eat better by visually kicking those food endorphins in first, then dazzle you with flavor. Let’s face it,…

Cool Mint Oreo Cookies
Nothing says winter like peppermint, and nothing pairs better with mint than chocolate, so the cool mint oreo cookies were born. Originally I was going to make a raw-vegan minty hot cocoa, but raw and piping hot are kind of an oxymoron. In raw food prep it’s spice that gives heat and that just wasn’t going to cut it for hot chocolate. Being cookie season around here, I tried to think of how to combine the two flavors and still make it visually interesting. As you can see from the photo, the cookies look fantastic, but the taste…minty perfection! You’ll find this recipe relatively simple. My struggle doesn’t have to…

Lemon-lavender go together like PB&J, like “milk” and cookies, like Lucy & Ethel. I made this little biscuit because I like something sweet with my tea late at night. I drink more tea than most which gives me enough excuses to eat cookies before bed. With all the raw things I eat or drink, I refuse to give up my hot tea in winter. In summer I switch to a sun brewed tea. So there’s a trick to these biscuits. Raw cookies in general don’t have that…
Blueberry Peach Cobbler
This recipe did not start out as a cobbler, it started out as a mini pie. I didn’t have the right pan, so I had to adapt it. As I contemplated the flavor profiles, I thought I would make the first attempt simple. I started out thinking blueberry. The local farmer’s market had blueberries, but when I first walked in, the fabulous aroma of peach hit me like a brick. Choosing the right fruit makes all the difference in the world. Blueberries should be almost hard and give off a mild scent. Choose a peach with a more reddish color than yellow. The closer the red is to the stem,…
