    Cherry Chocolate Crisp Raw Bread

    April 6, 2021 /

If first impressions are everything, I wouldn’t have given myself a chance in hell of embracing raw food once I’d been introduced to raw bread. Needless to say, once upon a time I really thought all raw bread was like the earth of the ancient world: flat. And it was the kind of flat you couldn’t fix because – on top of everything else – it was virtually tasteless and gummy too. If there was a taste, it was underscored with the slight bitterness of flax which I’ve always thought tasted like Burpee seeds gone bad. Raw bread and I were far from a match made in heaven. I am…

    Blood Orange Cordials

    October 31, 2020 /

I want to start by saying these are one of the most delicious candies I’ve ever had. The tartness of blood orange oozes from the sweet almond marzipan, covered in a deep, dark chocolate shell. I think this is my new favorite raw-vegan dessert, but…I will never make these damn things again! Okay, that’s not fair, I will make them again. What I won’t do again is give a damn what they look like. Trying to make raw chocolate stick to something is an exercise in insanity. Your choice is either a loose chocolate sauce that will never set, or a seized ball that can only be described as a…

    Chocolate-y Cherry Chip Cookies

    September 21, 2020 /

Once upon a time there was a choke cherry tree right outside my door. It was so prolific that we were able to share cherries with all the critters, the neighbors and still have enough for jams and sauces. I wish that cherry tree was here now. It’s long gone, but it still inspires recipes till this day. The smell and taste of a plump and juicy cherry make this fruit one of my top 5 favorites. Often needing an intervention, I can polish off 2 lbs without batting an eye. And believe me, I have. This year the fresh cherries were very sweet and while they were in season,…

    Oatmeal Super Antioxidant Bites

    August 12, 2020 /

Oatmeal is a quick and easy go to option for a nutritious breakfast, but it can also be the most fun. Pairing deliciously with just about any fruit, seed or nut, you can create your own wonderful combination to fit your lifestyle needs. Oatmeal is a naturally gluten free option that isn’t just for breakfast anymore. The first flavor I experimented with was “Nutella”. The scent of hazelnuts and chocolate transports me to my cousin Vita’s house on Staten Island. She would give us all a spoonful of the creamy spread and we would go outside on the stoop and eat our treat. Our chocolate hazelnut bite is a healthy…

Chocolate Lemon Bark with Lavender and Goji

    August 1, 2020 /

Chocolate makes the world go ‘round. I don’t know about you but for me, chocolate fixes everything. This whole recipe began as an experiment. Raw chocolate is known to have a relatively low melting point due to the high coconut oil content. So, this recipe was more of a search to find the key to a strong raw bark. I think I nailed it! If ever there was an antioxidant bank, this chocolate would be its currency! But antioxidants are not nearly all this tasty treat has to offer. In addition to cacao being a recognized aphrodisiac due to its ability to increase your body’s serotonin and dopamine production, cacao…

About This Site

Hello and Welcome! I’m Marie and I’ve been some version of Raw Vegan for the last 18 years… never mind the fact that I’ve managed to drag my entire family along on this ride with me! Truth be told: they barely even knew they were coming!

You – yes, you – can do this too!  But Let’s Get Practical! For most of us, it’s hard to eat Raw all day, every day. Especially if you live in a less than tropical climate. Or perhaps – like me- you’ve got a significant other… or maybe a tribe of ‘others’, who make 100% raw seem like sci-fi fantasy?

We all know that getting as much whole, living, raw vegan food into ourselves is a recipe for health and vibrancy! So why not make it easy and just eat raw for part of the day? Whether you use this as an avenue into an exclusively vegan diet or would never consider completely saying goodbye to meat, eating Raw till Four will guarantee that you’re ingesting fewer processed foods, less animal products and more of what’s actually good for you and your loved ones!

So come on and Get Raw…Practically.
